As I reflect upon this year I think there is one thing that I definitely have learned, personally and professionally. Life will happen when you decide it does. You won't wake up five years from now and automatically be in the position you dreamed of just because you are getting older and that's whats supposed to happen. You must make that happen, and it starts now. If we always waited for everything to fall into place, everything to be just perfect, we would never make any progress.
As we have been building this business I am seeing a constant theme where people do want to wait for the stars to align to make a decision ( Hey, I've been one of the people :) Life isn't going to slow down, stop, or pause, so we have got to learn how to make decisions while on the go.
Getting married costs money and whenever you spend money you could be making a mistake. For example if we had waited another 30 years we could have really had that dream wedding. When we started our family over a year ago, maybe we should have waited so that we could give the kids everything and anything they wanted. To go on all the trips, vacations, toys etc..If we waited 20 years to get a house we truly could have built our perfect home.
There is a poem that I just laughed at that illustrates this point so well and especially as we are in the wedding industry, it fit just perfect.
"The bride, white of hair, is stooped over her cane,
Her footsteps-uncertain-need guiding.
While down the opposite church aisle with a wan,
toothless smile
The bridegroom in wheelchair comes riding.
Now who is this elderly couple, thus wed?
Well, you'll find when you've closely explored it
That here is that rare, most conservative pair
Who waited, "till they could afford it!"
